interview

For this blog i was supposed to interview someone on my blog topic which is cooking. In this I wanted to get a more in depth background of my moms cooking.


1. where/who did you learn how to cook from?
my mom
2. what are some of your favorite dishes to cook?
Biscuits and gravy, chicken and dumplins, marlboro man sandwiches
3. what would other people say your best dish is?
chicken and dumplins
4. why do you enjoy cooking?
it is relaxing and rewarding
5. would you be a cook if you could go back in time?
yes, i would travel all around the world and explore different cultures foods.
6. what do you think about using organic meat in the things you cook?
i think that is a great idea, the chemicals and hormones they put in our food are killing us slowly.
7. do you follow the EXACT directions on a recipe or do you change it as you go according to what you think?
no, i just eyeball it.
8. would you rather cook a meal or dessert? why?
dessert, because its more fun and yummy.
9. would you rather cook a good southern meal or a healthy meal? why?
good southern meal, everyone dies from something.
10. would you rather cook a homemade meal or go to a fast food restaurant? why?Homemade meal, there is no comparison to the taste and quality.

The Verdicts In

I got my recipe from The Verdicts In which is the Gaston County Court House cook book because my mom works there.

Ingredients 


  •  1 lb sausage 
  • 2 cups sharp cheese
  • 2 packages of Bisquick mix

Steps


  1. Mix sausage with the Bisquick and cheese
  2. shape into small balls 
  3. Bake at 325 for 25 minutes or until golden brown. (this depends on your oven about how long to cook it and what temperature to cook it on)
 This recipe was easy to follow it was just a little gross having to handle the raw sausage. It is very quick and easy when you have to take something to a party and it is very cheap to make. you can also add peppers and spices to make it taste different. You can also buy cheese and grade it but I think that already graded cheese in the bag is just fine.

Halloween Cupcakes

Halloween is coming up soon! Have you thought about what your going to make? If not i have the perfect solution; cupcakes.

You'll need:

  • Butter Cream icing
  • Leaf green icing color
  • violet icing color
  • orange icing color
  • black icing color
  • ready-to-use white rolled fondant
  • foodwriter fine tip primary colors edible color markers (black & red)
  • knife icing decorations 
  • cornstarch

Tools:

  • 12 cup standard muffin pan
  • baking cups
  • 9 inch angled spatula
  • 9 inch fondant roller
  • Roll-N-cut mat
  • 6 inch lollipop sticks 
  • scissors
  • ruler 
  • knife

step 1

Bake and cool cupcakes. Ice smooth with spatula in green, orange or violet buttercream icing. Build up orange and violet cupcakes in center.

step 2

Make two arms for each cupcake. Tint 1 oz. fondant green, orange or violet. Roll out 1/16 in. thick. Cut lollipop sticks to 1 1/2 in. long. Cut a 1 1/4 x 1 1/4 in. fondant strip and wrap around stick. For hands, shape a 1/2 in. ball; flatten and cut 1/4 in. slits for fingers. Attach hands to arms using thinned fondant adhesive. Position knife decoration in hand. Fold over fingers and attach with thinned fondant adhesive. Set aside; reserve remaining tinted fondant.

step 3

Make one mouth for each cupcake. Tint 1 oz. fondant black. Roll out 1/16 in. thick. Use knife to cut a free-form shape, 1 1/2 x 1/2 in. wide for violet and orange cupcakes and 1 3/4 x 3/4 in. wide for green cupcake. Position on cupcake.

step 4

Make teeth. Roll out white fondant 1/16 in. thick. Use knife to cut small rectangles or triangles. Position on cupcake.

step 5

For green cupcake, pipe tip 5 dots on top in a darker shade. Flatten and smooth with finger dipped in cornstarch. For eye, roll 1/2 oz. of white fondant into a ball. Roll out orange fondant 1/16 in. thick. Cut a 1 in. circle for iris and attach with damp brush. Roll a 1/4 in. black ball flat; cut a 3/8 in. circle and attach for pupil. Cut a small dot from white fondant for highlight and attach. Outline iris with black FoodWriter; draw vein lines with red FoodWriter. Position eye and insert arms.

step 6

For orange cupcake, pipe tip 18 pull-out star fur in orange. For eyes, roll two 1/4 in. balls of white fondant. Flatten slightly. Roll two 1/16 in. balls of black fondant for pupils; flatten and attach. Cut thin strips of black fondant and attach for eyebrows. Position eyes and insert arms.

step 7

For violet cupcake, pipe tip 12 balls on cupcake top in violet buttercream, building up at center. For eyes, roll two 5/8 in. balls of white fondant. Roll two 1/4 in. balls of black fondant for irises; flatten and attach. Cut two small dots of white fondant for highlights and attach. For eyelids, roll out white fondant very thin; cut a 1/2 in. circle, then cut in half. Attach one half for one eyelid. Position eyes and insert arms.

Easy Cheese Cake Recipe

Have you ever needed to make a desert for a party or dinner and you didn't want to go buy one or spend all night making one? If so i have the perfect solution and here is the step by step directions on how to make this easy to make cheese cake. 

You will need:



  • 3 eggs 
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons of vanilla 
  • A pack of cream cheese 
  • sugar
  • 1 cup sour cream 
  • A 9 inch pie plate 

1. Beat the Cream cheese, 2/3 cup sugar, 3 eggs, and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla with mixer until smooth. then Pour the mixture into well greased 9 inch pie plate
2. Bake 22 to 25 minutes at 350 degrees. Turn off oven, remove cheese cake, and let cool for 5 minutes.
3. Combine 3 teaspoons sugar, sour cream, and 1 teaspoon vanilla. spread over warm cheese cake and return to oven for 5 minutes.
4. Let cool and put in the refrigerator.

* Tip:  If you make it the night before you need it and let it refrigerate all night its a lot better than just letting it refrigerate for an hour or two.
