Paula Deen diabetes

Hey, Ya'll
Many of you probably know of Paula Deen.  What many people don't know is that she had a recent diagnosis of type II diabetes. According to Forbes it hasn't put a dent in her earnings. Paula may be known as the butter queen, but bounce back queen might be more of an appropriate title. It's hard to think of a worse endorsement for her butter soaked southern cooking empire than to have such an illness. Through it all her business has thrived and seems as healthy as ever.

Deen told USA Today that since the diagnosis, she walks on her treadmill and quit drinking good ole southern sweet tea. " I have always eaten in moderation" she said"you know, people see me on TV two or three times a day and they see me cooking ll these wonderfully southern, fattening dishes. That's only thirty out of 365 and it's entertainment and people have to be responsible. Like I told Oprah a few years ago, honey, I'm your cook, not your doctor. You are going to be responsible for yourself."

While Deen continues cooking her fatty comfort food, her son Bobby has been promoting lower-calorie versions of his moms recipes. He has a new food network show called "not my mama's meals."

Whatever the Deen's are doing it's this girls opinion that they need to keep the yummy ideas and humor coming, what would life be without a little southern hospitality ya'll.

Chick-Fil-A nuggets

Have you ever ate at Chick-Fil-A? If you have you know how amazing their chicken nuggets are!! I have a little secret, I know how to make them and i'm going to share with you how to make them. They are very easy to make and i'm sure you have all the ingredients you need all ready in your home.

Ingredients: one egg, milk, pickle juice, boneless skinless chicken breast, flour, pepper, powdered sugar and oil for frying.

First you cut the chicken breast into nugget size pieces. Then you mix milk and pickle juice into a bowl and once the chicken is cut, you place it in the mixture and let it sit for an hour or two (the longer it sits the better it tastes). Once it has marinated you put flower and a little bit of powdered sugar, and pepper in a bowl that has a lid you place the chicken in the bowl, close the lid, and shake it up. *You want your oil to be hot before you put the chicken it then pan. You repeat this process until you have cooked all the chicken. I like cooking them in the fry daddy simply because its not as messy and its a lot easier to make sure they don't get burnt. If you do decide to use a fry daddy the nuggets will be done once they are floating on the surface.

Wondering what you could make to go along with this? Well, you already have hot oil why not make some homemade french fries? All you need is a bag of potatoes. Once you have rinsed the potatoes, you cut them into long thing pieces (they should look like french fries) then all you do is place them in the pan or the fry daddy and if your using a fry daddy you wait until they float to the top and that means their done.

This is one of my favorite new recipes and I strongly recommend that you try this easy and delicious recipe!

Welcome to a teenage queen with culinary dreams. A place where i bake, fry, saute, and grill my way into your hearts and homes.

My name is Megan and i am very passionate about cooking. I love taking simple everyday recipes adding a dash of this and a pinch of that to make something simply amazing. I cant describe the feeling that you get when you a have a recipe that that turns out good or better than you expected. It makes me feel wonderful when people ask for seconds and lick their plate (plus it saves on washing dishes). I've learned that when cooking, things don't always turn out the way you want it to but you realize what you did wrong so next time you can perfect it and it will turn out a lot better then the first time. I also love to bake, it's a very fun but fattening thing to do. I was very surprised when i made my first couple cakes because they looked amazing.  The best part is being able to brag about the cakes you've mad and also getting to eat them.
